WHAT DOES “CLAPHAM” MEAN?

Clapham is a small green neighbourhood in South West London. When we were picking the name for our first ever coffee bar, we thought of our happy place. Clapham, where our family made our home for several years, came to mind.

Clapham is a village within a buzzing megalopolis. Clapham is artists, dog lovers, first time parents pushing strollers, young professionals rushing about their day, athleisure enthusiasts on the way to their cycle class. For us, Clapham is a community. It makes us think of Gary Portnoy’s 1982 tune “Where everybody knows your name”.

At Clapham Specialty Coffee, our mission is to bring the Clapham feeling to our beloved Amsterdam. Along with an exceptional coffee quality, we promise you a friendly face, eye-catching artwork and, of course, fresh pastry from the best bakeries in Amsterdam.
